Comparison of Roles Under Direct and Indirect Care Provider
Basically, there are many examples of indirect care providers such as nurse administrators, nurse informatics’, and nurse educators. Furthermore, direct caregivers include nurse practitioners (NP) who are categorized as adult, gerontology or family health care nurses. Indirect Care Provider: Nurse Administrator

Direct Care Provider: Nurse Practitioner
Nurse practitioners can be termed as advanced registered nurses that are highly trained in the provision of health care through treatment of ailments. In this case, they are approved to do the diagnosis of acute and chronic illnesses. With regards to this, the NP are authorized to diagnose health care conditions and prescribe medication for their patients. Consequently, they can perform advanced medical procedures and also make referrals.
Similarities and Differences Between Nurse Administrators and Practitioners
Certainly, having both studied medicines there ought to be a number of similarities between the two. First, in order to practice this profession, individuals must have a master’s degree. Furthermore, many of the practitioners in their respective specialties have doctorates degrees which are focused on specific subjects. Importantly, this leads to specialization and increased competencies in various fields such as pharmacology, anatomy, direct patient care, and physiology (Verma, Paterson, & Medves, 2006).
On the contrary, nurse administrators get more course work on the interpretation of research, nursing theory, and education techniques. However, NPs get more lessons on the medical field such as increased subjects in the fields of drug therapy, disease diagnosis and treatment, and medical management. Another difference is that the NPs have a broader working environment as compared to nurse administrators. For instance, they can work in hospitals, nursing homes, clinics, private hospitals. Further, NPs are able to contract out their services for private duty.
In summary, the responsibilities of caregivers need to be respected by all and given to the brightest minds. Evidently, the duties involved are overwhelmingly many and involve delicate human life. Further, the training of nurses in various administrative skills besides medical treatment is necessary for ensuring that hospitals are well managed.
