The best way to improve the classes going forward is by providing both full-time and part – time classes where students can choose their suitable working schedule. As a way of enhancing service provision, both online and onsite study service should be provided. Online services will suit students that operate a strict or squeezed scheduled and hence they can easily get their study flexible by working anyway over the Internet (Summers 107). The course effectiveness, in this case, will be improved through introducing periodic assessment that helps ascertain the quality of services provided across all platforms, for examining, through examination where both categories of students are tested frequently to check whether they are on similar standards.
The 5S are:

The 5 S is a methodology for organizing the organization workplace to ensure that efficiency and effectiveness are embraced through identification of the items that are used, appropriately storing them and maintain the area and sustaining the same items (Summers 179). It is related to other Lean Tools in that the methodology helps ensure that there are efficiency and effectiveness in the working process and ensures that production resources are not wasted. The methodology is beneficial as it helps reduce wastage of resources. However, it is difficult to embrace as it emphasizes on reusing resources whereby some of them may be outdated and needs to be changed.
The 8 forms of waste are:
- Inventory excess
- Excess processing
- Motion waste
- Not utilized talent
The 8 forms of waste refer to any process, item or materials that do not add extra value in the consumer’s eyes. Value add are processes or resources that can increase the value of the product whereas non-value add are those that do not increase the value of the product or service in the eyes of the consumer. Both of these items should be identified to ensure that production is efficient. For example, in Joe’s Garage, value added time is an extra inspection of the service offered to the consumers.
Process Performance Measures described in the book refers to collecting and reporting the information about the performance of a group, system, organization or related component. Process measures describe the process while results measures describe the results. Process measures include effective indicators, quality indicators, and profitability indicators, among others while results measures include quality of output and efficiency. Effective performance indicator measurement are necessary as they help report the relationship between the anticipated and the obtained results (Summers 356). For instance, effective performance indicator measurement for student education quality is in the way one articulates the knowledge acquired with the practical situation in the examination or working environment.
A value stream map (VSM) can be created at the production level especially at the planning stage to help map the processes of production and control quality through efficiency and effectiveness. It is created to help in identifying wastage, reduce the cycle time during processing and help improve the process. A product quality or product routine (PQ/PR) chart is a matrix that helps attain the highest value from the value stream matrix in enhancing production process (Summers 256).
