Personal Leadership Improvement Plan
The development of leadership skills is essential in enhancing a person’s ability to influence and interact with others. Accordingly, these traits are necessary for an individual’s career growth since they enable him/her to become a great manager, who can effectively organize, train, and coordinate his workers. In this regard, the evaluation of my skills using the leadership improvement plan enabled me to learn both my flaws and abilities and identify ways to enhance the latter.

Analysis
The personal leadership improvement plan revealed some crucial traits about me, which I was not aware of. In particular, I was able to establish that I had a significant weakness in presenting inspiring shared visions and challenging existing processes. Additionally, I learned that my principal strength was in providing my colleagues with an opportunity of expressing their views. I also learned that I was unable to encourage my friends and to participate in the development of action plans. Despite my weaknesses, I learned that I was good in acting as a role model (model the way); however, I still need to improve on this performance.
I had an average performance of 32 in my ability to inspire a shared vision. This score shows that I am unable to encourage most of my colleagues to achieve our shared goals. As a result, I will become more affirmative by establishing a clear vision for the team. I will also talk more about my future goals. In challenging the process, I had a weak score of 34. This rating shows that I am reserved, and I do not give my opinions on the issues that I do not like. To improve on my performance as a team member, I will be more critical in future since positive criticism enables people to develop their performance. As such, I will always challenge people to become more innovative. In situations where people fail to achieve their goals, I will ask them the lessons they have learned from their shortcomings.
Despite my many shortcomings, my friends believe that I always encourage them to achieve their goals. Accordingly, they gave me an average score of 42.8. I will continue to be more empathetic and concerned about my friends so that I can inspire them to achieve their objectives. I had a score of 43 in “model the way” category. This score indicates that I am a good role model to my colleagues. Nonetheless, I will work on my weaknesses so that I can even become a better person in future. My highest rating was in “enabling others to act.” Naturally, I am tolerant and appreciative of the unique culture, behaviors, and temperament of different persons. Consequently, I always give everybody an opportunity to express himself/ herself. To improve on this score, I will be more open to my friends in the future. Additionally, I will learn human personalities so that I can become a skillful moderator when managing talks between different people.
Action Plan
The leading causes of my weaknesses are my inabilities to inspire shared visions and challenge processes.  Consequently, I will establish action plans that will enable me to inspire shared visions and challenge process. Importantly, these skills will allow me to become a better teamplayer when working with my teammates.
Inspired Shared Vision
For a person to encourage others, he/she must be able to influence his/her followers through both his/her actions and words. To be more inspiring to my colleagues, I will use the following two strategies:

  1. I will develop a clear vision about the future.
  2. I will talk about future trends that will influence how our work gets done.

The vision of where my colleagues and I want to be in the future will encourage us to be diligent in our duties. To ensure that ensure that we achieve our objectives, I will write the vision of the team in my diary. I will then write a 1 year strategy on how we will achieve the team’s goal. To ensure that I am effective in the implementation of the team’s objectives, I will write a weekly and annual achievement targets. The weekly targets will help my colleagues and I to appraise ourselves on how we are implementing our strategies. If we are unable to implement our weekly goals, I will always spend two hours on Saturday analyzing the cause of my failure and develop ways to avoid such an occurrence in the future. Additionally, I will dedicate 4 hours of my Saturday evening to accomplish the incomplete tasks so that I can start the next week with no backlog.
Secondly, I will always talk about future trends that will influence how our work gets done. I will always carry out research of developments in engineering field four hours on every Wednesday evening. This research will enable to me to learn new skills and get insight on how I should improve my skills as a quality engineer. I will always write down these discoveries in diary. Importantly, I will always share these discoveries with my colleagues during our group meetings. These information will inspire them to research more on this topic, and enable them to improve their skills. I will always miss my favorite snack in the entire week if I fail to carry out my weekly research. This method will enable me to have discipline, which will, in turn, make me achieve my weekly goals.
Challenge Processes
            To improve the skills of my colleagues and mine, I will challenge the manner in which they conduct their activities. I will use the following methods:

  1. Trying out new and innovative ways to do my work.
  2. I ask “What can we learn?” when things don’t go as expected.

Normally, I will challenge myself to try out new innovative ways to carry out my tasks. These techniques will help me to learn new skills and make various discoveries in my field. During my training as a quality control engineer, I will normally try to discover new and simpler ways of ensuring all production systems are functioning appropriately and the finished products are of the desired quality. To achieve this goal, I will always implement 1 unique discovery that I have learned in my work. Moreover, I will also encourage my colleagues to implement their new skills in their work. These methods will enable us to continually make important discoveries in our work. I will always keep a record of my discoveries in my diary. In case I fail to try any innovation in my work during the week, I will skip my Friday dinner and spend this time meditating over my failure. I will then commit to try out new and innovative ways of doing my work within the first two days of the following week.
Besides trying new and innovative ways of doing my work, I will always try to learn a new thing from both my successful and failed innovations. I will always record the performance of each new innovation that I will implement. Since I will be trying new and innovative ways of doing my work on a weekly basis, I will also be having weekly reports of my performance. These reports will enable me to make a comparison of the performance each innovation, and learn the one that is most effective. Importantly, I will ask my friends to also compile a record of the performance of their innovations. On every Friday evening, we will have a 1 hour meeting in which we will compare our performances. In case I fail to learn from my innovations, I will dedicate an hour on the following Saturday to meditate on my performance. Additionally, I will also skip my favorite hobby over the weekend. This system will ensure that I am both focused and disciplined to learn from my innovations.
Overall, the personal leadership plan was useful in enabling me to learn my weaknesses and abilities. In particular, I established that I rarely challenge processes, encourage my colleagues, inspire my associates, or act as their role model. However, I am good in providing all individuals with a platform to express their thoughts. Based on these reviews, I will enhance my communication skills, which will, in turn, enable me to solve my flaws and bolster my strengths.
